Warpspeed vs. Budget Y-pipe

Which pipe is better? I have seen both pipes and it just seems that the warpspeed pipe is welded and made with more quality than the budget. But I have not driven with a warpspeed. Anyone have any info that will help?

how do you mean more quality? the welds on my budget were damn near flawless when i got it, nice and smooth. they are t-304(i think)stainless steel mandrel bent. i have had no problems with mine after 6months of use, it makes a nice gurgle at idle, no rice can sound and a hiss at wot.

and of course the price is right at 160 US shipped to your door.

i dont know much about the warpspeed other than it costs a lot more than the budget.

good luck

I'm interested in this also... I don't know how much truth it holds, but WSP claims that theirs make couple of more horses than competition (they didn't try to hide that it was Budget though... ).

I'm sure the build quality is similar for both, but I'm more interested in which one performs better... Any thoughts?

I read on the board that Warpspeed uses a higher quality lined flex section, so its more quiet and allows for more flex as well.

on warpspeeds website they say, this about the budget y-pipe
"100% made in Canada, not entirely made of 304 stainless as advertised. Now we know why they paint them. You get what you pay for. "

somebody who has a new budget y-pipe needs break out the trusty old magnet. For $170 shipped its the cheapest though...

performance/hp gains should be close for all y-pipes.

Well one this is they are not all the same. Cattman pipe cost 350 dollars for a reason, they are made extremely well, I have seen some sh*ty welding jobs from budget, for some reason they look sloppy. Warpspeed are only 200 bucks plus shipping that is still not too bad.

To speak of the quality of their work, I can say this. I was just at Budget this morning. I asked Rich (Jeff's business partner) to insert a resonator "within" my Budget b-pipe. They cut out a section from the B and welded in a Magnaflow resonator. The welds looked really clean and tidy. They didn't even charge me for the install! They also welded a new hanger that had busted off...also for free.

I can't help but say the quality of their work is top-notch and customer service is equally high.

well, i just busted out the trusty old magnet (not a very strong one) and i noticed a slight pull when against the metal beam that runs beneath the engine, but as for the y pipe, i feel a lot less, if none at all. as for the flanges, i did feel the magnet attract more in that area. this is relatively subjective tho, maybe somebody else should try too.

Flanges are made from steel because the SS will not take the stress and crack.

Im not sure how stainless will stand up to the salting of the roads here.. im sure id feel more comfortable with a coat of paint as added protection from the elements... they put as much salt on our roads as there are snow...

The only negative thing about the painted y-pipe is that the paint "bakes" off. My Budget y did not come painted which is just fine by me. i got it for functionality not aesthetics.

I have a wpspd y and b pipe. I love it. The one thing that really sucked was waiting and waiting. If you don't want to wait, just go for budget.

Anyone care to comment on the noise level comparison?

I'm more concerned with keeping my car as quiet as I can rather than sloppy looking welds which won't be even seen since I don't care what the car looks from underneath.

I remember hearing the Budget pipe and it wasn't all that quiet. How are the Warpspeed pipes in comparison?

My budget pipe looks of high quality. The welds look almost flawless. My only problem with is was WEAK metal in the O2 sensor holes. Without too much force at all, I was able to completely **** up the thread in the pipe, and on the sensor. Upon closer inspection, there was actually some shavings in the threading, and possibly even some sand. It must have come from budget that way, I don't know where else it would have come from.

Long story short, I still think it's a quality pipe. If I had bothered to check the threads and clean them ahead of time, I probably would not have had the problems I did. The sound is very quite for the most part. No buzzing at all. A nice deep drone at like 1500rpm, completely silent on the freeway, and a slight hissing noise at WOT. No rattling or anything.
