exhaust tone with bpipe no resonator

I was wondering how an unresonated bpipe with stock 4th gen muffler will sound? Will it be too raspy? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I used to have a stillen muffler, and along with my ypipe and it was loud. If you're looking to add a bpipe to your setup, i'd get a resonated one. With the straight through design on the stillen, you'll need that resonator to quiet it down a little bit.

Gettin back to the initial post:
Anyone have any experiences with stock muffler and bpipe? I want a noticeably lower and deeper exhaust tone, but without the loud droning that comes with straight through mufflers. If not having a resonator makes the exhaust sound cheap/ricey or just too raspy, please post your experience with it. thanks

i have a stock muffler with a stock y pipe, but i have a budget b pipe with a magnaflow res. on it. (thats the type of resinator they weld onto it) it makes the exhaust sound much better. slightly lower tone. not loud at all. it think it sounds nice at idal. now that my finals are over i need to install my budget y pipe and borla pro xs muffler. im really hoping when that stuff is on that my car will still sound good and not too loud and annoying like those rice cars out there.

i highly suggest getting the b pipe WITH the resonator. its not much more and will make you exhaust sound nice and low, not raspy at all. its worth the extra $

if you guys want to know, you can PM Big_Ham, he has stock muffler, Y and Unres. B pipe and it sounds GREAT. I love the sound, its pretty aggressive when idle, and not that loud when your driving. I suggest however that if you get a loud aftermarket muffler, DO NOT go with an unresonated B, he had a greddy or stillen muffler (cant remember) and he said it was just too loud and he took it off...

For 8 months, I had an unresonated Budget b-pipe. It was very raspy sounding at WOT and whenever I downshifted to slow down. (You can see from my sig the other exhaust components I also have.)

I finally had enough of it so I went to Budget Exhaust last Friday to get a resonator installed hoping the raspy sound would go away. Budget took a reciprocating saw (e.g. Sawzall) to took out a section of b-pipe. A Magnaflow SS resonator was welded in that slot. And it worked!! At idle, it's quieter. At WOT, I can hear the JWT intake once again instead of the raspysound.

My suggestion is that if you don't want that raspy sound (which is pretty ricey sounding) go for a resonated b-pipe.

To throw my hat in the pile...

I have the budget y-pipe, b-pipe (no res) and 2K2 muffler. It is VERY raspy. If you are into a smooth, low exhaust note, DO NOT go without the resonator. Also, I ran this exhaust with the stock 4th gen muffler too and it was no better.

If you would like a Harley-like cracker-sound, don't get the resonator.

I'm planning on getting a resonator from budget very soon once I know what they cost. (too bad they don't answer email)

The Magnaflow resonator I bought from them cost C$80 (~US$60). Budget installed it for free.
