How do you remove hazard and defrost buttons?

How do you remove hazard and defrost buttons?
I'm in the middle of doing the clock thing and I have extra LEDs and want to put them in the hazard and defrost buttons while I have everything apart. Only thing is they don't seem to be the normal button. They look like they are soldered in or something. Has anyone done this?
