I just bought a 1993 SE 5spd and my friend's parents loved my car so they bought a 1996 GXE 5sp

I haven't had the chance to race him yet but tonight it's going down, any ideas of the outcome, like how bad is he going to beat me??

I know you 4th gens are partial to the 4th gens but honestly, what will the outcome look like?

Let's see...I believe the'93 SE's have the same HP (190) as the 4th gen, but have 15 less ft/lbs of torque. I would think if your '93 is in good condition, the best driver would win.
Let us know how you do and be careful.

"Output figures for the new engine are the same 190 horsepower at 5600 rpm of the former SE engine, and 205 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm, up from 190 at the same engine speed. So this engine is at least is strong as the old SE unit, and it's pulling around a car a good deal lighter: 3100 pounds, compared with the 3238 of our August 1992 comparo car. Acceleration is sparkling. Our '95 Maxima SE scampers to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and covers the quarter-mile in 15.3 seconds, reaching 91 mph. (The '92 ran 0 to 60 in 7.0 seconds, the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91 mph.) Top speed is 135 mph, within production tolerances of the 137 mph we saw in the '92 car."

I agree that the better driver might win, but the 96GXE will start with the slight edge see above link. However, clutch wear and engine condition might make a bigger difference. Have fun.

Good Race

It will definetly be a good race. The engines are basically the same except the 96 one has more torque and is a lot lighter, as is the car. Also the SE's are heavier even still than the GXE so you'd better strip your car down if you want to have a chance. Althought like you said we 4th genner's are partial to our cars and i think he will win.

On the other hand, Im pretty sure that if I was driving his car and he was driving mine, I'd win. So like some of the guys have said, "The better dirver would probably win".
