EGR Valve
Hi
my check engine light reccently came on, and i took my 1996 max to autozone to have them tell me what was wrong. I think he said the code was 400, but whatever it was, it was for the EGR valve. I bought a new EGR valve online, think that i might be able to do it myself, but it seems that there is a lot of stuff that would have to be moved in order to do this. Has anyone ever replced their egr vlave before? If anyone has any suggestions, please post them, or i think i will have to have a mechanic do this. Does anyone know how much that would cost?
thanks

I had a friend replace mine after getting code 03 02. You do need to remove quite a few parts, air filter, etc. The same code returned a few days after I replaced the EGR valve. I believe there is a link here somewhere detailing the best way to replace it. (I have a 96se also). Are you using more gas now?

I'm not sure but someone replied to my post saying there was probably carbon build-up in the brass lines running to/from the EGR valve and I needed to clean them - I have not yet done this. Diagnostics for the 03-02 code is "egr system hi/low flow"
