My Max is down on power.

Took the car to the track last night and ran 15.7x's @ 89.x's. Something is wrong, the times below are just with a cold air in similar weather conditions. And my short times last night weren't too bad, 2.3x's.

The car runs smooth, nothing really out of the ordinary. When I made the pass I could tell it wasn't running strong because I was only at 6k rpm in 3rd through the traps. The only thing I could think could be the problem is and exhaust leak I have where the custom ypipe meets the manifolds (both flanges are slightly warped allowing about a 1/2 inch wide leak on both manifolds, judging by the black soot the leak leaves behind). I already replaced the knock sensor last year so I doubt that was it. The car just feels like it might be pulling all the timing because it still runs smooth but just not strong.

Any suggestions on where I should start looking?

Thanks,

Doug D

Exhaust leaks KILL power. Closer to the engine the leak is, the worse the power loss is. Fix leaks before doing anything else. 1/2" gap for a leak is HUGE

wow, that sucks...maybe im lsoing power through my Y-pipe still, i keep hearing a hissing sound, and its annoying. My times are off as well as my speed...

And Doug, wow, those times suck, those are similar in times my friends 96SE Autotragic gets. Get that fixed and head back to the track
