Father and Son Nissan Rivalry

Father and Son Nissan Rivalry
About 4 months ago my dad was looking for a good inexpensive car for my mom. He was looking at all kinds of cars for around 20,000 and I suggested that he check out a Nissan Altima. I told him it was a good price for a great engine. After testing driving one he agreed and picked up a 2003 3.5 Automagic for my Mom. Since then he has been telling me about how much pick up it has for a V6. Well it didn’t take long for the testosterone to start building and for father and son to start talking a little smack about who’s car was faster, this went on through e-mails and over the phone for about 2 months, he lives in Dallas I live in OKC (for the time being.)
Last week my parents were checking in on my grandma (in west Oklahoma) to make sure she was doing well, and to help her around the house. On their way back they decided to stop by and pay me a visit, and yes they were driving the Altima. They wanted to out to eat and lucky for me it was getting close to time for me to work at the hospital so I suggest that we take two cars. There are tollway frontage roads about ¼ mile from my house that are new and flat, have no side streets, and have a big hill leading up to the tollway on one side, and a big open field on the other, that was the required route to get to the restaurant, so all was looking good until of course my mom said “no racing” which led to a “ya right” look exchanged by me and my dad.
Heading out to the tollroads I am a little nervous but I have faith in my 4th gen. I had raced an auto 2k2 Max not long ago and had pulled him well of the line, and from a roll he was only able to get his front wheels in front of my front wheels. Judging by the vids on Vqpower.com I figured I had this Altima.
So we get out to the tollroads and of course I back off so my Dad can get next to me and he goes for it which is followed by me putting about a car length on him. At the next light he says that it didn’t down shift right so I say OK. From the light it was just a repeat of the auto max, I pulled a great launch and had him, he would shut down around the speed limit which is 55 I figure because of my mom, I really couldn’t hear the engines of our cars as much as I could hear her shouting my Dads name when we would take off. So we are getting close to the restaurant and I say “third honk” we get going about 45 and light them up, I put his front bumper at my taillight until 65 and he shut down. Of course when we sit down to eat he rattles on about how the air conditioning was on and how they had luggage in the back but he did finally say “I am impressed with how well that car pulls.”
There is just something sweet about owning your Dad (which never happens, I could go into wrestling and arm wrestling but I am guessing there are already going to be a few posts about how members want their five minutes back) and having your 96 VQ whip up on what is suppose to be the upgraded version. When I go back to Dallas we are going to do it again.
