help with shifter?!?!

i got a 95 max se with 186,000 miles on it... today the shifter started resting in front of second gear instead of right in the center between 3rd and forth.... is this an issue or a sign of problems to come?

Nah don't worry about it. One of the springs broke that hold it in the center. That happened to me shortly after installing my short shifter and my car only has 57K on it. I've been driving like that for 3 years! If it really bothers you, you can get it fixed but it'll cost like 200 cause they have to remove the exhaust and heat sheild to get to it. Wait until you buy a cat back!

shift return spring is busted. nissan part#34573-40U00 its like a $6 part at nissan. go under the car and you will see a spring that connects the shift control rod to the shift support rod. the spring is about an inch long

Thanks for that Nismo, I'll take another look, I had no clue it was that easy. I figured it was up where the shifter was.

well it technically is where the shifter is which is under the car and above the exhaust. I think you can change it from inside the car though, unbolt the 4 nuts/bolts and take off that large rubber dust boot and you should be able to look down and see where the spring is.
