Hi everyone, my friend just got a 96 5speed Maxima. I just want to read up on them to see what type of car it really is. He tells me they are pretty fast for a family sedan.

Hate to burst your bubble, but it's a lot faster than your mustang.

They are hella fast for a family sedan... sure faster than a v6 stang hehe j/k

They are very good cars... one of the best v6 engines ever made. Also, quite a bit of mods out there for them. If he didnt get a lemon, he will be very happy with the car.

yes they are. 0-60 in 6.6seconds and the 1/4 mile in 15.2 at 92. Many have run 14s stock with good driving. Your friend has found himself a nice, fast and fun 4door sleeper.

What a lucky bastard. This is his first 5speed car so he doesnt drive too good yet. I can beat him for a little while atleast. My v6 1/4 is 15.6 which is not too far off from 15.2

yea, im a member on another board where several v6mustang owners run low 16's with some mods. It's sad to see those times when other people with a few mods run low 15s. there are just too many mustangs with too many crappy drivers who lower the v6's reputation

Well if it comes to V6 engines I say the Nissan one is much better I have race some v6 stangs (maybe auto) and they don't even come close to my 5spd family car. Any way I respect the stangs for the great V8 engine they have I think is the best V8 sound ever. But the v6 is just another story.

Yeah, the v8 is an incredible engine. Even my dad's v8 silverado makes me jealous when he steps on it.

Yea, I agree with you guys on this one. I dont understand how the v6 mustang runs slower then Maximas with the exact same horsepower numbers and more torque. Maybe its the gearing?

Fastest stock time for a 4th gen is 14.7.

My automatic with just a cone filter ran 15.1. His car has much potential.
