Simple question: Where is your temp gauge at at "normal operating temperature?" Mine is at 50% always (between top and bottom). Don't overheat, but wondering if I have a wrong/bad thermostat in this car. I read on these forums somewhere that the temp gauge was not too far above the C.
Please let me know, hate to be burning my car up.
Thanks.

Yeah, when it's been driven for awhile, it goes up to halfway. I'm just checking...some post on here made me paranoid
...they said the temp gauge was not too far above the C mark (after it had been driven.)
(Which was normal under my old nissan).

The temp guage really only has three positions: cold (bottom), normal (in the middle) and hot (at the top).
The coolant temp can vary as much as 80 degrees and the needle will never budge from the midlle.

I've been wondering about this very thing. Mine is at 49 to 50% and I just don't remember it always being in that range. I know all my other cars and trucks normally operate at about 40 45%. Now that it's in the upper 90's and 100's here in Austin, when I get home on a hot day, I actually open the hood to let the heat dissipate faster. Call me crazy but if it's that hot outside, that engine is not cooling off anytime soon.
