Won Immobilizer malfuntion

Any feedback would be great! My 99 Max won't start. In the manual it says that if the key is in the On position and the security light stays on that it is a security immobiliser malfuntion and I must take it to Nissan immediatly. Mines stays on. Has anyone had to have there system and keys reprogrammed and if so, how much did Nissan charge you for this. Or if you know a better way please let me know.

Yes, had the same problem with our 99 maxima. Had it towed to dealer. Dealer charged $125 to re-program keys and security system. This seems to be a common problem with the maximas. I've seen about 6-8 posts about this in the last couple of months.

Yea same thing happened to me. In my manual it says something about turning the key on/off liek 5 times or something like that. Have you tried that? Otherewise take it to the dealership. Cost me $150 for 2 keys.

Thanks for the input guys. I tried my other key and same thing. I tried the key on then off twice for 5 seconds and still nothing. The Dealer says try to lock and unlock the car useing the key in the door and sometimes it will fix. Tried that also, still no luck. I had it towed to the dealer a couple of hours ago. Hopefully my aftermarket warrenty will cover anything over $75.00 I am very interested to know how good this warrenty is. They even said they would cover the towing bill as long as the repair is covered
