Do all 95 maxima have ECU???

I have 95 gxe max. and tried locating the ecu by following the instruction from VPXMAXIMA,but can't find it in the driver side near the accelerator.Instead I found a sticker leftside and below the steering wheel,"Diagnostic tool connector located on the passenger side".Reading this .I rreally wonder if I have an ECU installed in my car. I found the plastic( VBXMAXIMA INSTRUCTION) that supposedly covers the ECU but the plastic seemed permanetly attached. Can"t find anything to pop out with screw driver.I appreciate any information related to this matter.. Thanks

There are two bolts that hold the plastic cover on, you must remove them to remove the cover. Your maxima has an ECU, trust me.

Basically, almost all cars after the 70s have some sort of an ECU, whether it be microprocessor or vacuum tube based lol....

The other day when I ran some diag's, I found it on the drivers side. We're talking about the alum box with screw on it right?

It's directly to the right of the gas peddle. It has two plastic screw type things. Just pop them out with a screwdriver (flat head). It will take some force. If you break them, goto autozone and maybe they have some replacements in one of the isle. If not, then use large amounts of duck tape or superglue. haha...just kidding. I didn't break mine...just lost one.

I was checking codes on mine yesterday (for the first time) and it had some kind of protective tape over the screw... sorta like so Nissan can tell if you've been playing with it. Just pushed the screwdriver through the tape to break it.

the two plastic covers are located behind the center console near the floor they pop right off. It looks like a De-srambler.

I tried using a de-scrambler on my scrambled eggs to turn them into sunny side up.

BUT

It didn't work, somebody said I might need a different frequency.

ECU!!!!

Funny!! No ECU!!

I've got a 95 GXE Maxima too. It is as they say. I had to bust both of my clips to get at it from the side. (gas peddle) Easy enough to replace. You can also access it (hard way, depending on what your doing with it) from the front dash. You just have to remove everything!! It's not that hard really, you just need to know the proper order, then it's quite quick.

If you want detailed information on any of it, let me know.
