maybe true, but you can not judge people. i have a friend who owns a maxima but he is not a member of the org. i ask questions for him all the time on here because i am a friend and i am alot more knowledgable on cars then he is therefore i can explain his problem better. besides... his friend has a 99 maxima, and he has a 95 maxima... don't jump to conclusions...

What you're suggesting is that one of us develop a new engine block and crankshaft, since the present VQ35 can't be bored out to 4 liters, and there's no other way to increase stroke except with a new crankshaft (which would probably require a new block).

Now honestly, who's going to do that? If I had that kind of money lying around, I wouldn't be driving Maximas.

Honestly how is that gay...... he doesn't have time to logg on and post, that's why I did it for him just to see if this has ever been tried before.

So if he does not have enough time to rob the local bank are you going to do it for him?

Has anyone tried to use a 3.5 litre crank?

Can you use piston rods from a shorter stroke Nissan engine?

Does anyone know the cylinder wall thickness of the 3 litre motor?

Nissan has a long history of evolution versus revolution in their engine design. I would bet they still have interchangable partts amongst the various engines in their line. I am not really sure though if this is the kind of thing this list is about. I have yet to see any real evidence that this is more than a list of people who like to talk about loud mufflers and sticker kits (I am excluding 1% of posts I have read from that statement).

There's one guy here (he even replied in this thread) who has an 11 second Maxima. Ya think maybe he did more than just put a loud muffler on it? Maybe you just to need to spend more time on the board before making comments like that.

Simply boring and stroking the engine out to a 4.0 with no other changes will not significantly improve performance.

The airflow path (from the throttle body, through the intake manifold, to the heads, headers and exhaust) will only flow so much air. It's size is matched up pretty well to a 3.0L engine. Stroking it out to a 4.0 will only cause it to run out of breath at around 4500 rpm.

To make a REAL difference, everything in the airflow path will need significantly upgraded. Chances are, the fuel system (fuel pump, injectors, etc) will all need enlarged as well.

If you were dealing with something more popular (such as a 5.0 mustang) all these parts, along with the knowledge and computer tweaks, are out there. It would be really tough to pull off with a maxima.

Anyone who does this successfully, and gets the performance improvement they were looking for, gets my full respect.

Just remember, the whole combination needs to be taken into consideration.

Good Luck!

if you are refering to the org in general, you have obviously not been here long enough to realize that the majority of us are against wings/stickers/fart cans/etc....oh wait, that's right you're a newbie. That's not an insult, but to sit there and judge people when you haven't been here long enough to know is wrong.

And if you're just refering to people in this post, then you're wrong again. You've got half saying that it would be cool to go for it, and the other half saying that it wouldn't work and why it won't work.....maybe those are the technical people you were searching for.

Sit back and learn before you stand up and make an *** of yourself.

Nah, someone would do it first and then offer a kit. Then we would complain about how much it costs and b!tch about how the max doesn't run right afterwards.
