Front Strut Bar

I was wondering how many maxima owners actaully have Front strut bars in their cars. Do they actually make a difference? If so, is it worth $70 ??

thanks

Re: Front Strut Bar

I just ordered mine, so I can't speak about results. As for price, you can get them on Ebay for about $20 (often less). Search for Maxima strut, and you should get a whole list.

I got mine from ebay for 32 bucks shipped. It's worth more than the money. It helps keep the car tighter around turns. buy one

We need to know the year of your car to assure a bar will fit (the 1999 SE-Ls use a different bar). But just to show you what they are talking about.. click here.

Its definitey worth the money. I installed mine a few weeks ago and its pretty easy to install and the turns are definitely tighter. I didn't go with an Ebay one but paid $45 with shipping from streetbeatcustoms.com There's really no difference in performance but I've heard some installation problems with the wrong ones from Ebay

the ebay bar is definitely great, pretty much the same bar as the one available through courtessy nissan.....if you dont want to deal with ebay, you can goto procarparts.com......stillen by far has the best looking fstb, but its purely looks, does the exact same thing as the 30 dollar bar

Let me give you an idea...

What year is your max? assuming 96 from your user ID. so here is one for you off of ebay... click on the link and buy it it's worth it. I got mine from custommaxima about 2 years ago for $60.... but now they are only $12.50 + Shipping. And thats the cheapest you could find on ebay...(including shipping). Good luck!

to me it was more of an aesthetic mod...to dress up the engine bay
i didn't feel any improvements from it.

I bought my front strut bar from ebay for $27.00. I even had one for my previous car (98 Eclipse GSX) and I really think it's worth the $$. I am probably gonna want to buy a front strut bar for every car that i buy.

I got the Otto FSTB for my 98 max and I love it. Biggest difference for me was the reduction in torque steer. flatter cornering is nice too.

FSTB

I have researched it plenty too, before bying one.
I just put in on a week ago.
I payed $50. (nicest looking one I've seen)
She looks good, and the install was minutes.

At first it was hard to tell if I felt a difference.
Then I pushed Maxine around a few corners doing a 4 wheel slide, 2nd gear, peddle on the floor... I felt it there! The car's flex was reduced greatly! Leaving both tires with a more equal pressure on the ground, giving me noticiably better traction.
Also, I notice it if I'm running about 2x the speed limit over a bridge (that's cornering) when I hit the little 'splices' in the road. Maxine doesn't spend too much time restabilizing after hitting the splice, she sticks to the road over these 'bumps' much better!!

Basic use though, I didn't see it too much. But it IS there when you push it!!

FSTB

http://www.budgetexhaust.com/

It is polished aluminum. I have no stickers anywhere on it. It's very clean.

I picked it up from budget exhaust.

Good luck!

I was wondering if anyone had bought the Budget FSTB yet. So it was $50 shipped? Was that Canadian or U.S. price? I wish someone had some pics of it, as i would like to see how it looks. Is it as shiney as the polished custommaxima FSTB?

I purchased mine from Budget.
Sorry I do not have access to my camera, maybe I can snap in tonight.
It looks much stronger than the custommaxima pics you listed. Though maybe it's not necessary.
It is a smooth, oval bar, about 3/4" high (top to bottom), and 1 1/2" deep (front to back).
Obviously it's bent up a little bit at the ends (as they all are) to straddle the engine components.
$50.CAD was not shipped. I picked it up.
The number is listed on their site, call them and ask what shipping costs.
Custom Maxima's look more interesting, but also maybe a bit cheesy...

Thanks for the input, so you are in Canada then right. That means in would be even cheaper for people in the U.S. Yeah custommaxima's looks nice but it is kinda expensive at $68. I was just trying to get an idea of how shiney it was in comparasion to the custommaxima one.

(Sorry, didn't read page 2) I also want a good-looking FSTB but don't want to pay $70 for the CustomMaxima one (the best I've seen).

Can't we get a discount?

Where could I find a polished FSTB with some red accents to match my Injen CAI? Price isn't an issue...only the best for my maxima! (Unless it's Stillen's...then its a freakin issue!!!)

I bought a STB over 2 months ago. You won't feel the difference on normal driving. Take it to sharp turns and you'll feel the STB stiff'n up your chasis... I got mine's on ebay for $35 shipped.. It's worth it..

I felt a little difference when I bought mine for like 46.00$. The real difference is when you install a rear strut bar and a lower sway bar

I bought the Otto Racing bar from procarparts.com, but I bid on one of their Ebay auctions. Saved like $10 bucks or so over buying right off the web site.

Would it matter if it's GXE, GLE, or SE? (different suspension) I'm thinking GXE owners would feel the most difference...
Anyone think the same?

The FSTB makes a difference, but it doesn't make that much of a difference.
