Are these bad prices? This is not from a dealer. The right side parking brake cable is rusted and needs to be completely replaced they said. They told me they had to remove the exhaust to do it.

The cost for my replacement cable (one side only) was ~C$120 (~US$75-80). Was the dealer quoting you for the left & right cable plus balancer thingie that connects to the e-brake handle? $300 is a lot of money!

just the right side...and it wasn't a dealer. These guys never ripped me off before. They did the pcv for $10 and o2 sensors for next to nothing. I guess they thought it was time to make some $$ off me.

Sorry, I should have mentioned in my earlier post that the C$120 is the parts cost only. I think I was charged one hour of labor. Seeing these guys have treated you well in the past, maybe you should extend them opportunity to explain & break out the $300 tab for you so you can get a better understanding of why it's so much money? Just a thought.

definitly talk to another mechanic...

BYW: if you really do need new rear strut mounts, id pick up a set of the motivational mounts, they are around $160 and they will give your car alot more suspension travel in the rear and really smooth out the ride too.

my.o2!
