Bought a 1995 GLE (pictures)

Last friday me and my dad went to a Nissan dealer to see if they had any older maximas in the 3-4k range. The reason we were looking for one is because my 1988 Acura Legend with 220k miles needed new tie-rods, front axle, and a front left CV boot. That would have been no problem, but the lifters are ticking real bad and the 5-speed is starting to go bad as well. It will cost most likely cost more than its worth to fix.

Anyways, the dealer had a 1995 Maxima GLE with 118k miles with an asking price of $5995. We drove it, and it needed tire balancing and the brakes didn't feel right either. My dad also figured it needed struts as well. Also, the car looked like it had been sitting under a tree for awhile because it was coated with pollen bad and had leaves and stuff along the seals and such. We decided to get serious and see what kind of deal we could make for the car. We managed to get them down to $4500, we were amazed we got them that low (it helps to come in at the end of the month).

Now its time to take it home and bring back up to good shape. It had a cracked sunroof wind deflector on it that had some gunk caked inside. We removed it and were able to clean it, but the deflector damaged the finish, we are going to have to get a replacement deflector to cover it up. I think the Bose stereo sounds nice, but the front Bose speakers are buzzing, what sites do you recommend for Bose speaker replacement (we don't want to repair them). We got the tranmission fluid changed (it was black), oil and oil filter change, belts replaced, and the air filter replaced. We took it to midas and got new brake rotors (the old ones were too thin to turn without going below some safety spec), plus some nice monroe sensa-trak struts and other things that go along with the replacing the struts. The car itself handles very nice now, but it has these crappy General tires that unfortunately are going to be on there for awhile because they got alot of tread left.

Last paragraph, then pictures I promise. I want to get some of those 16' 5 star SE wheels when these tires wear out. I love the car itself, its got a little more power than the Acura did, but I wish it had a manual (no conversions are going to take place unfortunately). I hope it can give me 220k like the Acura did. Now for pictures...

On second thought it would probably be better to just give you the link to my album on imagestation.

Since this is the first year Nissan made this car, what recalls and little glitches should I look for?
