Need Help...LSD Trany, clutch and flywheel questions

Ok heres my situation, hopfully you guys can help me out since i cant seem to search anymore, My cars a 96 5spd, a few months ago due to leaking fluids the trany blew. I had another non locking trany put in through a friend that now owns a shop, today i took it in because i was hearing some noise while turning, not clicking...just hard to explain noise, he checked it out and told me it was the trany, he wasnt to happy with it since it was put in...so now the car is still driveable it'll just get worse over time. Now i have the option of having him find me another trany and labor for pretty much free. He told me he can probably find me a locking trany through the local junk yard we both use to work at.

Now for my questions lol

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what number in the vin # of a car would tell me if its locking or not, if i can find this out he can have them buy the hole car and i can take the trany and axles out of it

Also i figure since this time i have the extra money i might as well buy an aftermarket clutch for it to, I was thinking of going with an ACT Stage 1, any opinions on it and best place to buy one online.

Last but not least would it be worth it to change the flywheel to aftermarket, i've seen threads about driveability problems but never read into them much

sorry for the long thread but i need some advice...any idea's opinions or anything would be greatly apreciated

Thanx
Dan

Definitely get the ACT Street Strip Disc.. You'll love the it
When I put on the fidenza flywheel I didn't notice any changes in driveablity.. The fidenza is only a few lbs lighter. So it's not a huge difference. But you definitely will notice your revs climb and drop faster..
