Fear of bottoming out..
Fear of bottoming out..
Hey folks. I was planning on upgrading my wheels to 17"s and dropping the car a bit. Specifically with H&R springs and KYB AGX shocks. The shocks I was going to set to 3/6, in hope of a smoother ride.
I'm a big guy, about 260, plus I usually have about 3-4 other people in the car, especially on the weekends. Should I be more hesitant in doing these mods for fear of constant bottom scraping. I dont want to be scared about every bump on the road with a full car load. Anyway, thanks for the help.
Angel.

Get Eibachs and get the Motivational rear mounts. That will give you more suspension travel so you don't bounce off the bump stops which will give you a harsh ride.
As with any lowering spring, you should trim about 2/3's of your OEM bump stops to allow for more shock travel or just get the KYB dust covers which have already shortened bumpers.
If you really don't think you'll be playing with adjustable struts, then save a few bucks and get the KYB GR2 line. They are valved the same as AGX's set on a medium firmness and do very well with springs like Eibach or H&R.
Just be careful about driveways and stuff. I've had a few scrapes since I put my H&R/AGX's in because I didn't slow down enough. It's not a big deal and I wouldn't worry about scrapes on the open road at all, just go slow in those driveways.
