need help: brake lights don't work!

Recently I put on the 97-99 trunk lid and mount a custom third brake light using the LED off my factory spoiler that was on the 96 trunk lid. Anyway, after all the wiring, the brake lights worked fine. However, today I noticed it's not working. I checked all the fuses and none of them were burnt. I thought that it might have something to do with the LED, so I disconnected it, but the brake lights still didn't work. The bulbs are fine too because they turn on when the lights are turn on. Any ideas? I don't want to get pull over for having no brake lights.

Switch? Where is it? I don't really see a switch on the pedal itself. I checked down there around the brake pedal, didn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Did you check the fuse in the engine bay, right next to the battery against the driver's fender? That one has gone out on me before....

Ramius: yes, already checked that. Btw, finally put your trunk lid on. Glad that I kept it, looking good. Not perfect, but good enough.

For whatever reason, it's working now. I got nobody to help me out, so I used a brick for assistance. I placed the brick on the brake pedal and went to the to check to see if the lights are working. It worked. Then I took the brick out to check out whatever switch njmaxseltd was talking about. I placed the brick back onto the brake pedal and got back to check again. Lights were off! I said to myself, "not again!". After a couple of seconds, the lights came back on. WTH? I rechecked a few more times and it seem to be working now. What's going on?

I didn't rewire anything. But after I put my Led's in the brake lights, they were flickering, I think bc the led's require more voltage than stock? but then when I put my stock's back in, they would flicker too! Now the new LED's I bought work fine and don't flicker, but that was a mystery to me, and seems somewhat similar to you...

That is good to hear. Sorry about all the trouble that it did cost. I am gonna put a positive under your trader rating. You can or you don't have to put one on mine. It is your choice.

BTW, sorry to ***** up your thread.

I thought about that. I already put in higher amp fuses just in case.

I think I might have found out what went wrong. When I spliced the wires and put electrical tape on them, I didn't do a good job at it. A few of the wires were exposed and I guess they touch each other causing the lights to not come on. I retaped them, this time doing a better job making sure no wires were exposed. I'm such a
