0701 Multiple Cylinder Misfire Code

I threw an engine light today and I got the code 0701 Multiple Cylinder Misfire. What should I look for, I have already replaced three Fuel Injectors, New fuel filter, Clean Throttle body. What should I look for? I noticed the exhaust was misfiring and stuttering. The misfiring/stuttering noise only happens every once and a while. My Maxima also idles rough and then other times it doesn't.

Also, I noticed that lately when I go to a stop and I push in the clutch the rpm will drop down below 500 and then come back up to about 650-700. Keep in mind I have just cleaned my throttle body. Any Ideas?

-1995 Nissan Maxima Se 5spd, brand new clutch anout 500 miles ago, budget y pipe and k&n air intkae. Please help me diagnose the problem.

Thank You,
-Nick

I got an 0201 (Ignition Signal Circuit) soon followed by an 0603 (Cylinder #6 Misfire) and had a rough idle as well and it turned out to be a bad ignition coil. Idles and runs much smoother now.

I agree.... Check your ignition coils..... They may be causing your misfires

I just got this same code yesterday.

I got that exact code yesterday.
I drive a 95 auto se. marron if it matters.
Ok my car got bad idle **** about 9 months now.
I replaced alot of sensors.ects/knocksensor/o2 sensors/And did a Full Intake Manifold removal cleaing/And of couse fuel filter twice.

Nothing Changed. Nothing.
As of Today. 6-10-03. My car now idles so low, and lopes that it just stalls if my foots off the gas for more than say 10 seconds.
It started with that 500/400 rpm rough idle. Now My car is crap.

I ALSO got this code 8Long/6short. EVAP canister purge valve selonid.
Now. wtf does that mean? I checked the haynes manual.
Ahhh, it describes all the symptoms but it could be anything.
I got an appointment with my mech. tommrow ill update ya.

its your ignition coil most likely, i had a bad one bud found out that the ahrness connector pins were bent. but yeah it makes the car drive like crap and i didnt liek my car anymore when that happened. but now i like my car again, so check ur ignition coil by doing this
;switch coils into diffrent holes and while engine is on disconnect harness and if the engine starts to fail than the coil is bad

I agree. Had intermittent misfiring a few weeks ago. Just replaced them all with new ones (Ebay $200) and all is well again. There was no telling when it would misfire... start the car and it was anyone's guess.

Does anyone know the specs when checking the coil packs with a multimeter? I'm not gettting a engine light but I do get an occational misfire so I am trying to check each coil to see if one is week.

I did check and the back 3 (1-3-5) have pretty much the same range. But the front three (2-4-6) are abit lower and vary in range. I haven't checked the ECU yet. Not exactly sure how but I'll read up on it.

rpm drop

may not be related, but I had this same type of rpm drop. Even lower like 200rpm, it stalled sometimes too. It was caused by not having the tube from my intake hooked up(the way it should be) to the valve cover. I had a K&N breather filter on the side of the valve cover instead.
It just sound similler, this would happen when I would push in the clutch when coming to a stop.

Good luck

Before I read this I just realized that was the problem too and I had fixed. Nice Diagnostics though!
Thank you,
