Foggy Headlights

My headlights have gotten a little foggy. I've cleaned the outside of them, but it hasn't seemed to help. Is there a special cleaner I should use, or is it on the inside, in which case how the he11 do I get to the inside to clean it out?

you have to take them apart to really clean them good. most ppl buy a new set. $195 with shipping and thats almost at cost.

the prices on the headlights have gone up in the last few months.

how do you take them apart? Do you need to put it in the oven and bake it at a low temperature? I've tried everything to take my foglights apart to clean out the rust, but i keep getting chipped glass. i might just throw them in the oven and see if they peel apart more easily.

most ppl use a heat gun, i think it's safer.

Try using some rubbing compound, i used them on mines , i bought it from pep boys, and it looked much cleaner and brighter....its a few bucks, and it does make a difference, youll see yellow haze coming off of it, and appearing on the towel

werd to the glaze. Any aluminum mag cleaner works fine. I noticed that the liquid wheel and chrome cleaner worked best (aka less elbow grease). word to the wise tho, dont use an abrasive of any sort, even plastic on those lights. I did, now i have an ugly perminant haze on one light. anyway, the mag polish will totally clean the outside and make a considerable differnece. by the way, where do i get new lenses from?

If the fogging is on the outside, try this stuff:

Renovo

This stuff is great on plastics. I got some for cleaning up my speedo and clock...

I have the same problem. However, a friend of mine that works for the parts department at a local Nissan dealership told me that this is normal. He told me that the factory released a bulletin saying that it is normal for Maxima headlights to fog up. I think he's bull$hiting with me but thought you guys might want to know.

so did anyone successfully take the headlights apart to clean them? If you did, I'd like to know, one of mine is a little foggy and I don't feel like spending $195 on new ones
