Squeling noise when starting car.

This just started recently, when I start the car, sometimes there will be a squeling noise that last anywhere from 1 to 6 seconds. It is relative to how fast the engine is going. I think it may be my starter meaning the solenoid is going bad. Am I right?

Belts. Check the tension & condition. Tighten or replace as required.

Serpentine belts.

Check your belts- A worn belt or even a new belt for that matter will squel during starting until the belt gets warm. Is the noise coming from the front right (passenger side) of your car? Does it disappear when you step on the gas? If so, it's your belts. You can lube it with a bar of soap while its running (hold soap to unside of belt while it's turning.0 or buy a can of belt lube from your auto parts store. - Hope it helps -

thanks didn't think of that. it doesn't make this noise once its already warm so maybe it is from my cold belts, i'll try the bar of soap thing and if that doesn't work, i will get the belt lub.

However, it might not be my belts because 1 time when it was making the noise, i stabed the throttle (hit about 1500rpm) and the squel got a lot louder and higher pitched.
