Bumpstops: KYB vs OEM

How much shorter than OEM are the KYB/TRW bumpstops. Anyone have pics or measurements?

KYB's are about 1-1/4 ~ 1-1/2 inches shorter.

I'm planning to get KYB AGX's w/ B&G springs in the next week or so. Would you all reccomend the KYB dustboots+bumpstops? I've heard some members were unhappy with them.

Thanks for the correction MaxWolf. I'll get the dustboots and stick w/ stock mounts then.

Is it possible that since the place that installed my shocks didnt trim my OEM dustboots that its causing my car to sit HIGHER then it should?? It rides just fine, but could it sit lower if I trim them???

No, that would not effect the height. But you definately have limited suspension travel. Your car will probably soak up bigger bumps and dips better if you got those trimmed or tossed in the KYB strut bumpers.

Would I have to take the WHOLE suspension apart to do that??? Or can it be done when the spring is compressed??

You have to take the shock/strut/spring assembly apart. The dust boot is the first thing that goes over the piston rod before the rest of the washers, bushings, strut mounts and the like so you have to remove all that crap to get the old one off.

Where is the best price for the KYB dust boots? Also I am planning on swapping out the Stock SE Suspension for a Ground Control and KYB Adjustable setup, is there anything else I need besides dust boots? Thanks.

I got mine at http://www.tirerack.com/ . I know the boots were cheaper there than at Cattman. SB103 and SB108 I believe are the part numbers.

In order to see what you might need, take a few minutes and jack up the car. Remove the wheels and take a look at your set up and see how it looks. By doing this, you should be able to get a good idea about what kind of condition your washers, sleeves and other parts are in. If your car has more than 50k miles or so I'd get new strut bearings just to be safe.
