Advice on RIMS ???

Alright Ive had 17's that were heavy stock rims and I'm really not conserned about performance loss cause ill just race in the winter...but I do care about breaking difference and Breaks wearing out faster and Bent Rims...

I cant decide Between 17's or 18's ???

I have an opportunity maybe to get 18" milles...now will bending rims be a big concern on main roads some messed up with potholes ?? I dont know much about rims so please help me out..

my dad advises me not to get 18's cause there isnt much rubber left on the rim to get comfort from
ride difference between 17's and 18's ??

get 18's you'll be happy the ride isn't to horrible but i speak from other people's rides...20 you'd have to worry about 18's...just be a little more carful with potholes...i saw a friend bend a stock 15 inch wheel on a buick century once. its always possible...get 18's

You need to be concerned about the weight of the wheels if you are concerned about braking performance on rough roads. More unsprung weight makes it harder for the shocks to keep the tires planted firmly on the road. 18" is probably overkill in terms of the actual performance needs. The steering is going to feel very soft and twitchy on 18" tires.

For 17", be prepared to spend around $1600+ for quality stuff. Probably looking at $250+ per wheel and $150+ per tire.

Forged wheels are stronger and lighter than cast wheels. Of course, they cost a lot more. So you'll have a better ride and much more resistance to bending. As with most anything in life, you get what you pay for. If you can't do it with quality, don't do it at all.

If you want to save money on wheels, just be patient and shop around. I was able to get a new set of 18" rota subzeros (which are just as light weight as the other brands that cost 4 times as much) for only $550 shipped, paid roughly $680 for a new set of tires, so thats only $1230 for a new set of light weight 18" wheels and tires out the door, i'm so happy I didn't settle for 17's.

They may be light, but they can't be compared to Volks, Advans, SSR's. etc. There's a reason some things cost so much.
Assuming that you're not talking about style, what is it that makes those wheels so much better? would it really be anything I'd notice in daily driving?
