oh the message got lost, here it is:
I cut the top nub off and wrapped electrical tape around where the nub was, but when I plugged it in, it only worked when they were in the original spot and not reversed, how can I get it to work reversed, where the lower nub is in the higher slot?

for my 99 you cut the top nub off and put the bottom nub where the top nub used to go,i didnt bother with tape

i believe the operation is different for 95/96, which is what i think i tried the first time, by cutting the bottom nub and putting the top nub where the bottom one goes. ruined the socket.

good luck

Just forget about the cutting of the nubs. Get a 6 dollar socket from autozone and rewire it to always stay high. It keeps you from burning out bulbs and it's more professional. Plus if you want you could tie it in to blink with you turn signals. Just my 2 cents.
