Cool Air K&N....Tranny Issues

i got a Cool Air K&N Pop Charger Intake today at the NE Meet in Jersey and I was told that since I have an automatic I can blow my tranny if im not careful. I was also told about a tranny cooler...would u say that it is likey to blow my tranny? I don't race, at least not regularly... and i've never had any problems wit my Max before. Do you guys say i need a cooler, and if so where can i get one from? And also does a COLD air Intake solve this problem.

that person that told you that is smoking something funny. dont see how he thinks that an intake will directly harm a tranny in any way

There's like a 1/2 second difference in the 1/4 mile between auto and stick.

Your tranny won't blow from the new intake, whoever told you that needs to get their head checked out

for my experince my friend owned a 97 gxe a purple one he only had a filter and he drove this car hard he raced hondas others maxima s with mods and beat them. of course you say how is that possible with just an intake . but it was possible and i witnessed it many times and you can ask stillenmax and also maxdout crew if it it is true or not . any way with the constant aggressive driving you know like burn outs and down shifting in auto matic and s massing on the gas over time (a three month period) purple max blew his tranny not once but twice. At the meet after blue got his intake he was so "trigger happy" becuase of the sound of the intake that in park he get reving the engine to its max. and me my boys were telling him to not that. blue stealz ain't do it once but a couple times. He was told like behavior like that would overtime cuase engine and or tranny problem if he cont to do it . He was also told that if you drive your auto hard that it heats up and that if it gets to hot from hard driving the tranny would begin to slip and or begin thermal break down because of the heat and was recomended if he want to be safe buy a tranny cooler. Thats the whole story to go with blue stealz question.

you also have to add that purple max was drivin with the overdrive button pressed down and skipped gears by mistakes switching from 1 to D in an automatic as i was told (was suppose to go from 1 to 2 how maximadriver.com had posted b4)... that was a slip of hands so how can the tranny blow if u dont make that mistake

No I dont need to learn how to drive. I just used to beat on my old car alot thats all. Trust me I would give you a run for your money duke. Is the grammar proper enough for you guys?

Some people have accents and write like it also. So please bear that in mind.

Oh yeah how do you use spell check on here anyway?

It's not mandatory that you have a tranny cooler. It's just peace of mind if you decide to get one.

Naw I never skipped gears in an auto. I just used to play with them alot and also the person who rebuilt my tranny was a total fool who didn't do the job right. A intake will not blow a tranny. Driving like a mad man like myself.
