Noise after injen intake install?

I just finish installing my Injen intake today. After the install, when I accelerate I hear this whistle noise. Is this normal? My car also sounds a lot louder when its idling. Is this normal as well? It sounds like a squealing noise coming from the side where my intake was installed. I've never had an intake before so I don't know if these noises are normal or not.

Your orders on rotor should go out on wensday. We should receive the SS lines by monday(sold out last week=(). I'll keep you update.

thanks sorry for the lag btw.

thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was normal, but wanted to be sure. After the intake install I feel a little power hungry now. I think I need more add ons =). I also can't wait to get the rotors, pads and SS line installed. I haven't changed my pads since I bought my car =\.

Thanks for the update on my items and don't worry about the lag, as long as I'm kept informed I'm happy.

How is the injen intake compared to the PR cai intake. I remember everyone use to say those were the perfect intakes for maximas. Because of the sound and performance.

To me a faucet sounds like compressed air. That's nothing like the sound of my Injen. It just has a nasty roar whenever I floor it above 3000 RPM.

So you're saying that what I'm hearing (the faucet sound) when my car is idling is NOT normal? Any idea why mine is like that?

I guess I'll check for any air leaks today when I get home. Does anybody have pictures of the INJEN intake installed? I want to make sure my intake is position correctly. Any pics of the location of the filter would also help. Thanks!

Best place to buy the Injen is www.adventon.com
It's a little over $200 there but that's much cheaper than anywhere else.
It only takes about 1 1/2 hours to install too. If you get someone that has already installed an Injen, then it would probably only take 45 min.

Does it sound like a water faucet running by any chance? I can't seem to find out why mine sounds like that at idle. My car drives pefectly fine.

Which version of the Injen intake do you guys have? I have the RD1930P model. The one thats made for maximas with the air temp sensor on the air duct of the stock scoope instead of being located on the stock airbox.

The difference is in where your air temp sensor is located. You should get the RD1930 if you air temp sensor is round and located on the air duct connected to your stock scoope. Get the RD1925 if your air temp sensor is rectangluar and have screw holes.

I don't have an Injen, i have a Frankencar, but from the inside at idle you could barely hear anything, but when you step out, you get a sucking sound, this is normal if that's what you're wondering... Check that all your hoses are connected properly and you should be ok...

I checked my hoses. Everything seems fine. When im inside my vehicle I don't hear anything but from the outside I do. I guess from you post I should assume its normal.

Larcenist, Was there a lot to do when you installed the injen intake or was it simple?
And was there a difference in performance?

Do the 1996 GXE Maximas have the rectangular or round temp sensor?

The install was fairly easy once you understand what the instruction want you to do. The hardest part was taking the stock intake out (since i never did it before and I didnt have instructions on how to do it). After you install the intake, you'll be able to take it off and reinstall it very easily. Its one of those things where once u do it, you won't forget how to do it. The install was simple, like any install the most difficult part is figuring out what screws the instructions are referencing and then getting to it.

Performance gain to me was good. I was very happy after the install. I think I liked it more because I also changed my PCV valve and cleaned my throttle body when I installed my intake. The combination of the 3 really makes your car drive like BRAND NEW. I recommend cleaning your throttle body when you install your intake. You'll have access to the throttle body while doing the install so cleaning it is an easy task.

I just helped a guy out with his Injen for his sentra over on b15sentra.net

Mine HAD a whistling runny faucet noise and then i took it apart and noticed a weld was sticking out on the inside like about 1/4" so I sanded it down.. buh bye noise. Then agaoin I could've had a leak and just happened to tighten everything better the 2nd time around.

Injen guys who've had theirs for a while.. clean the filters... the Roar gets LOUD.

Don't you guys just love the quasi-V8 sound you get?
