the "dual coils" you are talking about are the springs with helper springs on top which are supposed to soften the ride and lengthen the amount of spring travel.

nothing new.. nothing fancy.

Not new, basically a cheaper version of Ground Controls. If you have the money to buy Illuminas, I'd hope you could get something of better quality (atleast GCs).

as I have seen and used many different coilover systems.........from my current cattman, to 70 dollar civic coilovers....I really don't see the 175$ difference the ground controls have. In fact, I think the dual spring is a better idea once i looked into it..........?????????anyone else have input

So you're switching from cattman to seperate spring/shock coilovers? Most people on this forum would think your nuts for that.

But it all depends what you're looking for, ride comfort? handling? The Weapon R will generally handle like dog doo and feel softer compared to the cattman. But if that's what you want, go for it.

Dual spring (or progressive spring) was designed for people who can't take the harshness of a single rate spring (ground control, JIC). But all performance usually goes to crap due to the spring rate changing mid-corner between front and rear unless they designed and tested the system well enough. So for a summary:

fixed rate = great handling, bad comfort
dual spring (or progressive) = decent handling, better comfort

Also, with seperate spring/shock coilovers when lowering over 2 inches, prepare to hit your bumpstops all the time, that's where the crappy ride comes from. Integrated coilovers don't suffer that problem because the bumpstop/shock is usually height adjustable.

I'd personally stick with the cattman or go JICs if I were you. But that's just my opinion.

i started a group buy for these a while back.. couldn't get the 5 people needed. everyone backed out. go to http://www.meanstreet.net they have a good price on these. i htink like 230 shipped..if i rememebr correcly, i called weapon r and asked about the spring rates, the spring rate of the main spring if pretty high..i think he said around 600-675 pounds per inch. but the rate of the helper spring is softer so i think that is what makes up for it. try them out and tell us how u like them. my friend has imitation ground controls on his integ for under 2 bills.. ive driven that and an integ with real GC.. cant tell diff. make sure u have good shocks to pair these with.. only agx, illumias or koni yellow will be able to properly support coilovers.

Sure you wouldn't want to go the JIC or Progress Coilover route? They are much better.

I've just never liked seperate spring/shock coilover systems, because if you drop it too low, you'll basically be riding on bumpstops, and that sucks.

don't have the money for the jic or progress route.........and would love to go tokico illumina and lowering spring, but really haven't found a spring that gives a low enough look and good enough handling...
