Hey anyone with a 5spd Supercharged......Is it worth it? Im interested in Supercharging my Max. How much quicker is it? How expensive is it?

If you have the money then you should get it. I've got an auto '98 SE with the SC installed last Sept. Love the power on tap, the slight turbine whirring noise and the growl from the stock muffler when I stomp the gas. Its priced slightly over $3000.00 US.

got a few things to add.. sc'd auto feels nothing like a sc'd 5spd.. i have a 5spd and all i can tell you is it's worth it course there are many diff mods u can do.. but im sure even the stock 6psi of boost will be enough to keep you enetertained for a while.. price is around 3000$ or so.. but just make sure you have a shop or some really experienced friends.

Phil96SE is right...because mine is an auto there's lag in shifting through the gears. I suppose the next stage after that, if you want more power, is to go NOS. I'm still having fun with the boost. Next upgrade is Don's VB mod to fix the shift lag!
You definitely need an experienced and competent mechanic to do the install.
I took my car to a speed shop that handles and it took them a week to get everything done, despite what Stillen said. The engine bay is just too dang tight for them! After 4 months of driving nothing has come loose. The installation is rock-solid.

So is the SC more effective in an Auto? I know this may be a stupid question, but which one would be faster. Im guessing the five speed, but one of the replies talks about how the automatic doesn't have shift lag between gears or something. Thanks

Anything out there other than Stillen???

I wan't to SC my Max, but I don't want the Stillen because I have heard of to many problems with it. I want to find another SC manufactuer, but I can't find any that make them for the Max. I am thinking of getting a custom, but I want to look at the aftermarket first! Any info. will be appreciated!

shift lag?? muwhhaha okay.. i shall say this once and never again even with the VB conversion.. the auto still has shift lag compared to a 5spd.. i don't care what the auto guys say.. i've been in a auto with boost.. and its nothing! to what mine felt like.. so really if u want to feel the boost.. u need to be a 5spd.. it also has to do with the gearing difference between auto and 5spd.. and thats something that the vb mod doesn't fix..

so it's not worth SCing an auto?

I understand the SC is better in a 5 speed, but does that mean it's simply not worth getting for the auto?

It basically comes down to what you want to do to your Max. If you want to go all out then go for it. Its your baby! Just make sure you've got the money or access to a personal line of credit! I did it because it ticked me off being left behind by a freaking Ford Expedition! A Friggin' truck! Besides, who cares if you have a 5 speed or auto anyways? I think thats a moot point since we are all Maxima lovers. Lets not start trashing each other, ok?
