What Engine is in this Max??

Hey guys, I came across this picture and i noticed that the engine inside this Maxima is not a VQ30DET for a 4th Gen Max. Can anyone tell me what it is? i think its a 300ZX engine but i'm not sure.

It's at this website....http://www.turbomaxima.com/modules.p...view_photo.php

Its the top half (upper/lower manifold) and turbo from a JDM VQ30DE-T. In Japan there version of the Q45 comes with different engine packages, one that is available is equiped with a turboed VQ30DE the other two that I know of are the VK41DD and VK45DD.

Would this engine go in our maximas.or is it set up for rear wheel drive?

That is a very good question, but I think that if this was an available option everyone would have jumped on it already so I guess the answer probably might be no.

No this engine would not be a direct swap it is built for a RWD car.

Externally the engine looks different because its got a stock turbo, it has different intake/exhaust manifolds (for the turbo), and its made for a RWD car. The internals are slightly different with a 9:1 static compression ratio and IIRC a stronger valvetrain.

I think the guy who did this bought a VQ30DET, stipped it, and swapped the internals and manifolds into his existing VQ30DE FWD block that came with his Maxima.

yeah that would make the most sense, cause a rwd conversion would be way too much $$$$
