i have a 95 gxe. every once and a while when i start it the engine turns over but it never catches. i have to give it a little gas and then it starts. any ideas?

start by changing the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in a while; if that doesn't fix the problem, ask again.

 

Your post is an example of a common problem on this forum. People needing advice post a question but describe their symptoms in a vague or ambiguous way. What do you mean by "turns over"? What do you mean by "catches"? These terms may be self-evident to you but people in a different state or region use the same term with a different meaning.

Please be more specific. Did it not crank (no Rrr-Rrr-Rrr)? Did it crank, but slower than usual? Did it crank at normal speed but fail to fire (no Vroom!)? Did the starter motor spin with an unusual high-pitched whine? The diagnostic paths and potential remedies are different.

Help us to help you by providing a clear report of symptoms.

 

How about a check engine light or has it ever stalled/quit on you for no reason? If so it,s your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.
