stainless steel brake lines. basically, the stock rubber brake lines expand in terms of girth first to build pressure and then they apply pressure to the calipers, but with stainless steel, they wont expand

You probably need to bleed them.

Were they spongy then or has it just gotten worse over the last 2.5 months? Loosing any fluid?

Spongy usually means air in the lines. If you get SS lines to replace the rubbers, they will give that extra bit of firmness, but you could be having problems 2.5 months from now if there's another problem that's introducing air into the system.

i jsut put on new brakes today..they dont brake as well as my old worn out ones.. they were worn to the squeeking pin..i bougth brakes at autozone.. raybestos is the brand..but i got the highest end ones they offered..they are ceramic pads.. do brakes need a brake in period??

with old brakes there was less peddle play though.. pushing down about 1 inch on them would make them lock up.. now i have more pedddle play but they dont brake as strongly..

also.. i think the brakes are touching the rotors all the time. but i know i installed them right.. when i got out after goig around the block twice.. the rotors were crazy hot.. much mroe than normal..am i suppose to use those extra plates that come with the brakes? or just the stock ones are good enough? i used the exrra ones.. or am i jsut spose to wait til they are brake in.
