Question on the EVAP box...
I've read a few posts that have been on the org, and read hwo it is quite easy to get to and to take out. Mine is making a hissing sound, like a leak of air from a tire. Is this normal? WHat could it be, a loose hose? I want to get to it but its been raining like crazy. If it was a leak, would this cause bad gas mileage? Thanks for your help.

The vacum leak should activate your CEL.
Best advice is to visually inspect it and see what's up.
The valve on the box tends to get rusty and stuck. It will create 01 11 code if I'm not mistaken.
It's an easy fix. You can take it apart and clean it with WD 40 or get a new one for like 30 bucks.

Naw, I dont have a CEL. The reason why I post about it is because one day I realized a hissing sound comming from my car, at first I hought I had a tire leak, but then the sound would go away when I turned off my car. The sound was comming from my drivers side rear wheel area. Then I started to think that sometimes I would smell gas around my car. But yea, no CEL at all, just the dam KS as usual =(

I figured, how does this vacuum leak from teh EVAP box affect the car? I would assume if there was a leak there would be a CEL right? or is that just if it was not functioning at all. Would this leak cause a decline in gas mileage?
