That is for the Air temperature sensor, your gonna need it somewhere close to the filter, why not stick it somewhere good?

as long as it doesnt fly into your engine. I just drilled and screwed mine to the metal part of the filter.

haha i was lazy and stuck in to the grooves on the steel mesh of the filter.. i looked for ones that were cloesest together to hold it better.. it hasnt moved since i put it there..just make sure the arch pastic part around the sensor is what u use to stick it in with.the actaul orange senor resistor thing is still suspended and not toucing anything cept teh wier that holds it there inside the arch.

get creative..youll figure somethign out.

K&N Filter and Machined Aluminum adapter for my 95 Maxima. Also fits 95-99 Maxima and 240SX and maybe others.
Has holes in the end of the filter for the air-box sensor, but it can be covered up if you don't want to use the Factory Nissan sensor.
Traded in my Maxima and the Filter does not fit my new car. Made a big difference in HP and Milage on my 95. I have cleaned and recharged the filter and it will be ready to go!! (Literlly!!!) I prefer to take Paypal, but will take Postal Money Orders and Certified Checks. Shipping will be $6.50 in the lower 48 States. No returns

so like... what's the deal with the air temp sensor? dumb question I know. I probably deserve a smack in the back of the head, but I thought the intake was a straight bolt on mod.

Most just stick it near the filter, It just gives a signal to the ecu, helping it make the correct a/f mixture.

I put the sensor into the intake without drilling a hole.

Just took the filter off and slid the sensor inside.

No drilling needed.

I bought my maxima and it already had the stillen intake w/k&n, one day when I washed the filter I noticed a sensor just dangling but couldn't figure out where it goes. I wonder if this is that sensor?? What difference would this make if it just hangs in the engine bay?

if you have a cold air intake it is a good idea to drill it into the connecting tubeing, that rubberery type of things

I just zip-tied mine near the intake...
the sensor is a plastic thingy...doesn't even look real...

If you're worried, you could always buy a new K&N.

So this air temp sensor comes off... when? It comes off when you install the mid-pipe? or when you take out the stock box? Sorry guys, dumb question I know, but I just missed somethin here.

i wonder how much the ecu really uses it...i had mine basically laying on the engine and i didn't notice any difference. an intake getting 100F or 70F air i would think would make a big difference but...who knows =]
