I have a question for you guys, can my '98 max take this '91 legend; both stock. My friend wants to race, we are both autos with big heads. We are wagering 100 bucks on this race, we never raced each other before and are going to race one time. Any tips on how to race with an auto and any preperations I need to do so I dont loose a cool c-note?

i always drive way under the speed limit down the road my house is on(20 in a 30). and one time one of my neighbors tried to pass me in his legend 2dr. his front bumper got up to my passenger side door and then i just pulled on him. he no longer tries to pass me anymore. but i wouldnt bet 100 simply on this info.
on a side note they dont allow street racing posts except on the weekends.

Legends don't come in hatchbacks. Its a luxury car.. pretty much a nice version of the Accord. 4 doors or two, I think they became 220hp after 93 maybe? Either way.. your max should be faster..

Legend is 200 hp and weighs more...they arent geared the way max's are and im sure a 91 has a metric crapload of miles...If you can drive at least mediocre id bet you win. But...does he have mods?
maxima.

I think it will be a close race, you just have to worry about the 1993+ Type II 6spd coupes with 230hp. His 1991 has 200hp and 210 torque, but his engine is 14 years old. I think if you get a good start, you will win.
Get the car going a little like you would go off a stop light for less than a sec, then punch the gas. If you punch the gas right off the start, you will spin your tires and lose. Go practice your start just in case
With the 100 you win, it could go toward your ypipe and intake

you'll definitely beat a 91 2 door coupe. They look very intimidating but stock they are slow. The extra 10 hp and extra 10 torque does not do squat for the extra 300+ pounds and weaker gear ratio. Guaranteed you'll pull on him off the line with the lighter weight. I'll take it both of u r either stick or auto, not one is stick and the other is auto. You dont have to worry about any legend except the Type II like someone mentioned. Those look sexy as h*ll and they are a beast for stock cars.
i own a 91 acura legend that is till stive sometimes... the legend 16.2 quarter mile time is with an auto. a 5 spd legend ownes. the rare 6 sp sohc type II legend with 230 hp vtec ownes even more.. auto max quarter mile is about 16.2-.4.. it will be close.. but if both of you were completly stock..id honestly have to say the legend. i drove a legend for 2 years before looking for my max.i was also looking for a 93-95 legend coupe type II while looking for my max. when i test drove the auto max i was very dissapointed.. my auto legend pulled harder. especially towards the end of the gear. stock legend also turns alot better then stock max gxe or gle. my legend was my first love when it comes to cars..dont underestimate it. it will come down to the driver and who has better shifting techinque off the line with an auto.
if your not goign straight u have good chance to win.. the auto tranny in the legend is dumb at downshifting times. alot of times it wouldnt downshift when i floored it, going 65 on the freeway, just stayed in 4th.i dunno how smart the max auto tranny is but it shold be better than teh legends.
my friend owned a 5sp legend which i got the chance to drive. chirping 3rd was cake with 18in racing hart c5's. 3 gear pulls like madd. i think stock 5spd or 6spd legend will beat 5spd max too bone stock. but there is hardly any aftermarket support for a legend.

From a complete stop the Maxima has an advantage no question at all there. From a roll I think the Legend has the advantage, unless there is a VI in the equation. On behalf of auto Legend before I owned the 97se I had a 91 Legend auto (of course this has nothing to do with speed) but with 180K miles the auto tranny chirped second.... stock.
But in all honesty in 5sp form head to head with similar mods the Max would get the jump off the line, at the top of second gear the Legends comes alive. A rolling start in second gear would be a great run. As I mentioned earlier if the VQ is not VI equipped the Legend will start to pull at the top of 3rd. I really miss the off the line power the lightly modded 5sp VQ has but once you add basic bolt on mods to the Legend it does not dissapoint especially on the top end.
