my auto max used to burn the tires if i stabbed the gas from a dead stop (oops!) but recently, theres like a half second pause before it slowly begins pulling at launch. the topend is still fantabulous, but down low just feels like something is wrong. i heard a lot about ignition coils, my max is a 1996 gle, and has never recieved new coils or anything. it also idles kinda rough. i am not getting any CEL or anything. anyone have any ideas? transmission was recently replaced and its shifting perfectly. any ideas would be awesome! sold my other car 2 days before the max started having problems, so now I don't have alternate transportation thanks! - S

thanks for the recommendation, I will give it a shot, maybe clean the intake manifold too if someone could post those instructions, but it doesn't do it when the car is cold, as soon as that temp gauge hits the 1/2 mark, the cars a dog

My Max hesitates (just for a split second) when I downshift to 3rd or 2nd. Is that normal for 5-speed, or do I need to do something?

if you are fully off the clutch, there should be no hesitation
