fogs/brights

The best reason for rewiring the fogs is so the crazy things don't go OFF when the brights are ON. Don't you use brights to get more light? Duh. Why not bright and fogs at the same time? More light! Of course the added plus is the ability to run with park/fogs for the "cruisin look". I highly suggest going the 'extra mile' by (1) change to clear corners, and (2) rewire blinkers with 1157's for "new & improved" parking lights...makes those dead blinkers come alive and looks even better with park/fog combo!

The reason they do this is because technically if you are using the fogs for what they are meant for, you would never have the brights on at the same time because they would reflect off the fog. Of course, there are also times where you need to kill the headlights and just use the fogs...so Nissan pretty much just missed the boat on the foglight wiring. Reqiring them is freakin critical...they should have just given you the option of doing what you want from the factory since most people end up using their fogs as kind of driving lights.

Because Maxima owners are stupid and love matchnig their lights with super-white bulbs from PIAA rather than true fog light bulbs which are yellow(ish) in color.

Haha, yea good point. They are fog lights though...i.e. side beam pattern and mouted low on the car, but you're right, they definitely should be yellow...

Which is why there are about 9000 threads (one is going on right now) about yellow foglights.

I think he means "why did Nissan make the car with white fogs, if they're 'fogs'?"

As for the 1157 conversion, click here to see my page on doing it.

Being able to see when there is fog > looking cool and having all white lights and not being able to see when there is fog
