Cyro-Treated Trannies and Gears

I really want my 5 speed to be as close to indestructable as possible. Is cyro-treating the tranny worth the money? How much and where can one do this? Any advice or ideas would be great on how to make my tranny bullet proof. Thanks!

in your opinion, is cryo treating worth the price (how much is it anyway?) for NA cars?

Cryo treating is definitely worth the money. It makes the gears about 28% stronger. Most places charge an average of $50/gear..

I don't know where you are getting that information..
but many say cryo is 3x stronger, and the place i get it (onecryo) is 40$ per gear stack! you only have two gear stacks, so 80 total plus shipping of course.

the real money comes in labor, getting the tranny out first, but that is only half of it. then you must get the gears out

worth the money on an NA car? that is up to how the driver handles the car.. even on a high-hp maxima, it does get hard even if you are good to the car to keep the gears alive sometimes, so yes and no. you must weigh the expense vs cost of replacing the tranny...

I got that info from the tranny expert that rebuilt my tranny when it blew. He cyro treated all the gears. Meaning 1,2,3,4,5.....

You can treat just about anything that is metal. Read up on that page some good stuff, including prices
