Auto transmission on it's last legs?

Well, I spoke too soon in the supercharger/turbo forum, and I think the beginning of the end is coming into my transmissions future. It was losing 4th gear last night on the highway, and it tossed out 1101 (Inhibitor switch?) and 0504 (Automatic Transmission Control Unit Signal to ECU). I'm HOPING it's something electronic, because of how the car runs at the moment (perfectly). Here are the symptoms:

1) Driving at above 60km/h causes the car to shift to 4th - normal.
2) If over-drive is off, car stays in 3rd - normal
3) Over-drive light FLICKERS at random when over-drive is off - abnormal - loose connection?
4) Car "burps" its way in and out of 4th gear entirely at random when going above 60km/h
and the wierd factor that is giving me grief over this situation:
5) The car BANGS its way into gears. Perfect, Crisp, Quick shifting like the day I first installed the VB.

I don't understand how 4th gear can be having such a hard time while the car boots its way in and out of 1st, 2nd and 3rd like a champ under boost. Is there a possibility it's a loose connection somewhere that I can check out?

Inhibitor switch is something that I had go bad a couple months ago. Im not exactly sure what it does but it's related to the neutral position switch as far as telling the car if you're in drive or reverse. My reverse lights stopped working when I started to receive the Inhibitor switch code. I installed a new inhibitor switch, my reverse lights worked again and the CE light went away.

You didn't have the auto transmission acting wacky during the inhibitor switch going bad did you? The inability to hold onto 4th gear (mind you, when it loses 4th gear and switches to 3rd, it does it really quick.) Thanks for the OD switch information, I didn't know ours could do that. I don't think it's blinking in a manner that is informational, but that's a pantload of stuff I can check, so again -- Thanks.

Actually I did. Overdrive didnt work and even when I had overdrive in the "on" position it would never lock out 4th gear. It was a big pain at my first dyno run to do a 3rd gear pull without the tranny shifting. When I replaced the inhibitor my OD worked again.

Woooo! That's got to be the problem then. I couldn't understand why a perfectly shifting transmission would go ape**** like that. Would you be able to describe what's involved in changing the switch?
