pcv

Its easier to clean the throttle body and change the spark plugs than to change the pcv valve. Took me about 45 min. to change. Maybe the hose on mine was cut a lttle long, because it had absolutely no flex and just would not budge. Once off, only took a few minutes to replace.

Remove the bolt that holds the piping to the intake runners. That give you more then enough free play to pull the pipe off the hose and then pull the PCV valve up.

The job takes about 5 minutes.

You can clean the PCV with TB cleaner. If you clean it out and shake it, you should be able to hear the valve inside rattling back and forth.

After I changed my PCV valve. My ECL only came on when I started my engine. When I turn my engine off and try to check for the ECL code. The ELC were gone and I didn't get any codes. The ECL comes on and off very frequently and I have no way to checking the codes. Does anyone have that problem? Could it be that the PCV is loose?

Yes, Changing the pcv only took 5 minutes. I just loosening one of the screw and pull the valve and the tube up from the engine all together.

I also clean out the Throttle body intake. Boy! I felt the power that were missing, coming back from the engine. :-)

hey guys, i was thinking about doing these routine things this weekend, cleaning/replacing pcv valve and cleaning the throtle body.

Where should I purchase a new PCV from? Is advance autoparts okay? If so, is there a specific brand I should buy from them?

may be you may want to take the idle air control valve apart and clean it.

I was burning oil because of a clogged PCV, d@mn nissan didn't change it for the 60,000 mile service (have to keep a paper trail for 100K warranty, and yes I did bend over and grab my ankles when they gave me the bill) I changed it in about 10 minutes (have some needle nose plyers handy) and everything is fine now.
