NGK Platinums causing loping idle?

A loping idle (as described by the Haynes manual) is where the idle speed goes slightly up and drops down and I've been having this for quite some time. I've read that the NGK Platinum spark plugs come pre-gapped and so I put them in a while ago.
Now the manual says that there are other things to check out but could the spark plugs be the culprit here?

Spark plugs generally will not be the cause of a loping idle speed.

Clean your throttle body
** Clean your IACV (IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE)** - controls idle speed
Check/clean or replace your PCV valve

Hmmm...I've already cleaned the throttle body, fiddled with the idle speed control...all thats left is the PCV...Thank you!

You can try unhooking one coilpak connector at a time to see if the idle changes or not. If it doesn't change, that is your cylinder. Bad plug, bad connection or bad coil pak.
