leaking coolant!!!!

I need help with my cracked radiator. There is a small fine crack close to the neck of the radiator. I had already pour the sealant stuff into the radiator. Will those stuff last? or should I replace the whole radiator? If I need to replace a radiator, how much should I expect to pay at junk yard?

Anyone had experience using the sealant in extreme hot condition? I live in AZ so its always hot here.

Those sealant products do more harm then good. Replace your radiator.

The list price on a new Radiator is about 240 bucks. Junk yards usually get a percentage of list. I bet it's around 60 or 70% and I'm not sure what warranty is offered. You might be better off with a new or remanufactured one.

Yep, I agree.

If you overheat your car (even once) bad enough, consider how much it is to replace head gaskets and other things you "cook".

Re: leaking coolant!!!!

I've never liked the sealant stuff. If it can plug the radiator and stop the leak, then it can also plug up your coolant lines and passages. The part that's cracked is metal? Maybe you can try welding or jb weld. The most important think about a coolant leak is to always check to make sure you have coolant. It won't overheat with enought coolant.

I also had a coolant leak.

I tried Bar's stop leak, it worked for about a month. Then my radiator started leaking on the top of it(plastic part). So I used some of that plastic weld stuff. Ok that worked for a week. Then it leaked at another place on the plastic top. Used that same stuff on that leak, then it leaked on the rim between the alum and plastic a week later. So I finally just replaced it. Cost me $150 for the lifetime warrantied radiator, and about an hour of time.

Wish I would have replaced in the first place.
