I'm at 55K miles. What the hell should I DO?

I have 55K miles on my 5-spd 99 SE-L. I want to change the spark plugs cause I still have the originals. Do you guys think it's time? I do drive the car quite rough. Also, should I get the NGK platinum plugs? I heard these are quite good. How about things like fuel pump and other... should I replace these? Also, I noticed lately these microsecond pauses in acceleration happening anywhere between 3.5 and 6 rpm. Could this be because of fried spark plugs? My max is all stock except for a cone K&N filter. One more thing...my friend who also owns a maxima told me to replace the ignition wires and get some 9mm ones instead of the stock 5mm or so...is he right? Any feedback would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

I know there's a website that has detailed instructions with photos showing how to change spark plugs on a 99 max...anybody know what it is?

if you're lazy and dont want to change the sparkplugs 30k miles down the road, get the NGK platinum.. they last up till 60k miles.

If you want better performing plugs, get the copper... they just need to be replaced every 30k tho.

Sprint has an excellent website w/ pictures on how to change the sparkplugs. I'll try to see if i can find it or if someone else can give you the link for that.

You might as well go ahead and do the rest of your 60k mile maintenance. It lists everythign thats reccomended in your owners manuel. Also, i dont beleive your max has ignition wires. Unless its alot different than my 99 GXE. Which i cant imagine it would be. Most people tend not to replace the fuel pump untill it quits working. Your probaby thinking about the fuel filter. If thats the case than you should probably change that too.

The Maxima uses Nissan Direct Ignition, so it doesn't have any spark plug wires. You should change the plugs and do a radiator flush and replace the fuel filter, not the fuel pump.

I was in the same situation (52K miles) and I decided to go ahead with the 60K service. I changed the fuel filter, plugs, did a fuel injection service, and cleaned the throttle body. My car felt noticably quicker and believe it or not, my 1/4 mile ET went down by .2 seconds.
