Frankencar whistle???

Hey all in 4th gen land!!!

I've had a Frankencar intake + mid-pipe (non-bent) for over a year
now and I constantly get this whistling noise coming from my engine
bay...

the whistle comes and goes...it sounds like a 16-wheeler's turbo whine...

anyhow, does anyone else have this problem?
any ideas on what I can do to relieve this problem?

thanks!

it's a normal noise. I have it myself along with the majority of people with intakes.

can you explain? because the whistle only happens when the car
is MOVING...that is, it doesn't whistle when in park and revving...

I think that the whistle is a result of items that have changed in the
engine bay...and the wind is moving in the engine bay in such a way
as to cause this whistle...not sure where or how just yet...

It mainly deals with how the air flow is and the filter. I have no idea why it does it, but almost all intakes, especially most CAIs, do this....

i was told the noise comes from the air resonating off the rubber in the filter. mine is the loudest right under 3k.

mine only happens right when I am stepping on the gas after shifting.. it almost sounds like a BOV. I'm pretty sure its a normal noise, and I think it sounds pretty cool.

It's not the filter thats whistling, it's the throttle plate. You hear the whistle with a cone intake or even a CAI. You don't hear it with the OEM setup, it's made with sound baffeling in mind.

Do this, put your tongue up on the roof of your mouth, leave a small crack and suck air. You'll whistle exactly like your cars throttle plate does.

Just like you hear the growl at WOT, you hear the whistle at slight throttle angles.
