ive been having strange rpm bounces and stalling when im in reverse. tomorrow im deciding wether or not to buy a new tps sensor. the voltage at closed throttle was 0 ohms(i thought it was supposed to be 500) and full throttle is 3680 which seems close enough to 4000. anybody with experience that can help me out please let me know....should i replace it or is it good?

First, check to make sure your probes are on the correct contacts. I don't have my manual in front of me so this is from memory and may not be entirely correct. When you open the throttle, the reading should smoothly increase to the wide open throttle position, it should not be erratic. The sensor mechanism itself has two sensors - TPS and WOT (wide open throttle). It sounds like you may be testing the WOT side of the mechanism. Just a thought. The part is expensive if you don't need it.

i followed the exact instructions on that web site....if you look at it from the engine bay it would be the far left part of the harness

On the website -- http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/tps.html -- pins 2 and 3 would be the two pins closest to the passenger side of your car, or the two pins farthest away from the air filter on the intake. If it will be helpful, I can look in my service manual when I get home tonight.
