About the INTAKE hole...kinda hard to explain...
I have a K&N cone filter installed on my 5-spd 99 SE-L. When I purchased the filter from a local performance shop I was given this adapter thing that attached to the end of the intake (you know...the part the screws into the stock part with the MAF sensor on top). Now...here's the deal...the hole on that part I was given is just as big as the hole of the filter. Is that OK? Is my car getting too much air? I'm all stock otherwise. If you look on the stillen intake for the maxima...you'll notice that the High-Flow Velocity Stack (pictured here: http://www.greghome.com/images/Maxim...yStackRear.jpg ) has a hole (pictured here: http://www.greghome.com/images/Maxim...StackFront.jpg ) that is much smalled than the hole on the filter. Does that play a significant role in how the air is distributed? Maybe better airflow?

Your K&N is just fine, your not getting to much air. I don't think the velocity stack is all it's hyped up to be anyhow. Just use the correct size filter and you shouldn't need a velocity stack - which is what you've done.
