brainstorm on new intake idea!!

okay, after reading alot about how people really are not getting any gains out of most all the intake modifications i started looking at the main reasons you all are giving for the lack of any improvement other than sound (personally id prefer performance over sound). from what i gather the vairous intake mods fail either because of sucking in to much hot air, not getting enough air flow, or the new one...there not being enough pressure in the intake like the resonator apparent function does on stock.

So maybe im crazy and this is completely a bad idea....but what about what i like to call "forced air intake". the idea i have is to install a blower or fan within the intake tube while either keeping the stock setup or changeing the air scoop into the wheel well space both where cooler air is drawn. this is what i am thinking of using only they do have a 3" instead of 4" version http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2424299723 Having the blower inside the intake tube about where the midpipe would be would direct more airflow thru the TB and the air would be imediately available. it would also draw in more cool air from outside the engine bay due to the suction effect it would cause even with the car at a stop. this just might solve (1) more cool air (2) more air flow (3) immitate or increase the pressure the air within.

this maybe a completely wacky idea that has no merit what so ever, but i just thought i would run it past you all and see what your opinions maybe. could this possibly work??

thank all, i love this site!!!

230CFM is alright for a computer fan, but it would never be enough to help your engine out. In fact, adding fans around the engine bay might help cool things at idle, but once you're moving you get more air than you think moving through the engine bay.

it would be more restrictive, especially at 4K+...just more stuff blocking air

Yup, plus to get any gain at all from those, you need atleast 700 cfm just to match what the engine needs, if not more....thats just to match what its sucking, you need more if you want to be like forced induction. checkout the E-Ram http://www.electricsupercharger.com/ same concept but a little more to the extreme, friend got it and I heard it worked a little but there was a difference.
