Cold Air intake

Well guys i finaly had a free weekend and install my cold air intake.

now i followed the instructions on this site perfectly, and everything seems to work just right ;-)

BUT here is the problem, the engine light stays on when i start the car. dispite the advice of the tuorial i drove it around the block and it ran and sounded PERFECT!! ;-)

as far as i can tell the light is the only thing wrong with it... does anyone know if i have to reset something?

Thanx for any help (96 auto if that helps)

You forgot to plug in the intake air temp sensor.

Pull the codes, see what the ECU is telling you, fix it and clear the error code.

Refer to the link on the top of this page for instructions.

Which cold air intake do you have? If you have the correct intake for your year, it should have a hole to place the sensor in.

If it doesn't have the hole, remove the rubber gromet from the stock piping. Drill a hole in your cold air intake, insert the rubber grommet and the sensor. Problem solved.

I have a rubber nub on the part of the intake that all the other hoses connect to... it has a plasic part infront of it... i pulled out the plasit part and i could fit the temperature sensor in the hole and it seems kinda secure... is that how it goes?

i dont screw into anything?

Thanx guys i was worried like hell before you told me how to figure out the exact problem ;-)

but this should the the end

Thanx again

I saw the write up on this forum. How did you measure the area to saw off?

saw off? do you mean the hole you have to drill?

That was kind of a dangerouse guessing game.. the instructions said the drill saw should be 3.25 or 3.5, since you cant really see it once installed i went 3.5 to give myself some more breathing room. But after i put rubber trip around the hole the pipe barily fit.

Word of advice dont skimp out of the saw drill bit.. i got the $10 one and it did not make it lol... 1/2 way through all the teeth were just about gone (and the package said it was good for metal).. i used a hack saw blade and did the remander of the hole with my hands holding the blade ;-) and my hands hert like hell this morning lol.

In the instructions they had a template kit to positions the hole correctly, my kit did not come with one of those so i did my best to eye ball it and seemed to work.

Ohh and incase anyone is wondering the temp sensor is in and working perfect the CAI is up and running 100% and sounds PERFECT ;-) as for performance i cant be 100% but i am fairly sure there is an increase, i seem to be screeching of the turnes more.

Thanx for all your help guys

Guessing game? It gotta be tough. A 3.5 opening that fits the angle of an intake and the fitting of the intake tube. Well you did it. Good job.

Thanks for the info.
