Best H.I.D. kit conv. for the maximas.

9004 scatters alot of light to oncoming drivers... It will allow you to see better while (partially) blinding oncoming traffic.
Get H4 Cefiros (or Projectors if they EVER come out with them).
Check the GD forum for Ange's thread. I just received my One Piece Cefiros today and started installing them. It's quite a bit of work. She has started a 2 piece GD as well but I'm not sure if "less modifications" is needed.

I recently put in an HID Kit from HIDS4LESS in my max. Yes, it is bright as hell, and yes I do get more light on the road, but no matter what kit you decide to buy, you wioll always be limited by the 9004 housing- forget about a horizontal cutoff- it aint gonna happen. Last night i pulled into my garage and my neighbor followed me in with his Acura RL....night and day differnence. The 9004 reflector juts plain old sucks with HID. Aom them down as to not light up the cabins of other cars as I did when I first installed them. I really did not think that it would be that bad until I took it out the first night and was literaly shooting light into the corneas of other drivers. The glare is rediculous, but they are staying nevertheless. On the other hand, I see a few accords that take to HID very well....Oh well, I still love Maxine. Hope this helps. By the way, the bulbs from HIDS4LESS seem to be very well made...Nice tight fit.

They do not go into any detail and I have e-mailed tons of these no-name HID e-bay sellers and they are dumb as posts usually... ask a simple, yet important question such as "what is the lumen rating" and see what they say. If they cannot answer that, you'd be better off getting Eurolite for $15 and sticking them in.
Another thing - they claim $999 retail??? Please... NO HID is $999...
Go with brand name, when you are spending so much money - Hella, Osram, Phillips, etc.
My 1 cent (after taxes).

From what I have read, its not only the ballast that counts, its also the bulbs. Many kits come with a "brand name" ballast, and are packaged with "homemade" bulbs. This is the case with kits that are above 6,000K since most "brand name" manufacturers' bulbs are original up to 6,000K. If you get a kit thats 8,000K and says "Hella" on it, it is most likely only the ballast that is Hella, and the bulbs are made elsewhere.

Kelvin rating is good to know, but lumen rating is more important since the whole point of buying HIDs is to have better lighting. Lumen rating measures brightness. Kelvin rating (6000K, 8000K) is just the colour temperature.

The lower the xxxxK color, the higher the output (lumens)...
I just put 6000Ks in and it looks too "white" for me... I think I would prefer the 4300K. Maybe it's just the fact that they are NEW to me.

HOWEVER if you can find the optimal combination of lumen/kelvin ratings then you know you got a good HID system - ie 8000K at 3200lm for example. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one company that makes them, which is where I bought from. But this "best of both worlds" combo does not come cheap.
If budget is your main concern, get a 4100K - 4300K HID kit, which should be in the 2700 - 3200lm range (for the better ones). However the light will just be white... a bit whiter than stock halogen bulbs... not worth it imho. If you spend the money spend it and get the good ****.

If the government has it their way, the will ALL be illegal...At least all the aftermarket ones...mainly b/c like FormorAccordMan was saying, 9004 reflectors, (and many other cars' stock housings) are not MADE to project HID, and scatter their very bright intense light into other ppls eyes...
i doubt it will be a long time b4 its cracked down upon though
my 3 cents...(inflation)

HID is already Fail the law. I think in 2 month most HID retailers will start to push them out Cheap!because HID will not be legal.
The only HID value won't go down, from what I know is CATZ.
