Ignition Problems...//Please Help...

When I try to start the car, it doesn't turn over. I have a cut off switch on the 'sideview mirror control' but I took it to the shop that installed it & they told me I have a problem with the "Ignition Switch". 96 Max GLE

Do the rest of the accessories come on(lights, radio etc...) when the ignition is on?

Yes. Everything works but engine does not start. Sometimes it won't start for 10-15 minutes and then starts.

Could be the starter. Check if your getting juice from your ignition switch to the solenoid on the starter. Also, rap on the starter next time it happens, it doing so makes your car start, you may have found your problem.

The guy at the shop checked everything & then showed me the part next to the ignition that I should change. It is a plug that another plug is plugged into it with 6 wires. He took off the cut off switch and problem is still there. This has been a ongoing problem. First, it wasn't much noticable & then it became worse.

Hey, I went to the dealer and bought a 'Ignition Switch' for 38.00 and installed it. It works great. The part that the key goes into was kind of loose and damaged. This car was a 'Theft & Recovery' car and it looked like this was the way the stole the car. Now I know how to start the car without the key. All you need is a Star point and Flat head screwdriver. (this is why I have a cut off switch).

Thanks for you input though.
